Patio jungle weeding advice needed

I'm a bad person and I have let my back yard patio overgrow with massive weeds. Some have really thick trunks and are 8ft+ tall.

What tools, techniques and weedkilling products would you suggest to remove all of these and try to prevent them from coming back?

I have some gloves and that's about it...

    Start with thick gloves  and a pair of secateurs. Cut as much as you can. That will probably leave you with the tree stumps. Saw those down as low as you can. Paint the stump with SBK brushwood killer.

    OK great - I think I have some secateurs so I'll get the weedkiller and see how I get on!
