Peas! Worth planting now?

I've some sugar snap / mangetout seeds but wondered if it would be a waste of time planting them now. 
The packets say sow outdoors to June and I'm in the Midlands of England.

    If you’ve the space I would try it … hopefully we’ll get an Indian summer and you could get a late crop. Anyway here in Norfolk we’re at least two weeks behind where we would be in most years. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    As d-fab says, it will depend on the weather but, as an example, I planted my last batch of pea seeds on July 10th last year. I harvested the last of the pea pods on 29th November and yes - I do have a spreadsheet ;)

    Nice work biglad - as an accountant I can't do anything without a spreadsheet :) 
    Thanks both - I agree that we're behind at the mo so I'll give it a go - I'm less concerned about the length of time (the ones I sowed in 1 April gave us a harvest mid June but it's the hotter temps this time of year which they don't like do they?

    Look at it as an insurance policy. If we continue with this cool wet summer weather, at least you can be pleased you'll have some late peas to harvest. If it we get a hot dry spell, the peas may not flourish but what the hey - at least we'll have had some hot dry summer weather

    Didn’t Matt Biggs recommend this on this week’s Gardeners’ Question Time? Through serendipity he found it works, but do check it out on Catch Up because I was not totally attentive.

    I'll give it a go - I've got a couple of previous successions coming through so I shouldn't be without for long; with these being mangetout/sugar snaps they're much quicker to mature (eat at pod stage) so fingers crossed!
