I am so saddened that I was not able to keep my bare root rose alive. I followed all directions, but yet it did not sprout.  What could I have done wrong?

When did you buy it and where did you get it from?
Did you soak it when you got it and plant it straight away?
Where did you plant it and in what kind of compost?

I did soak it right away, over night...I got it from Jackson Perkins...I planted it where it got about 6 hours of sun (where I have other roses that are fine) Compost was for roses. I guess maybe I just didn't plant it deep enough, although I did have the hole dug twice the size of the plant... I guess I'll half to give up on this one, I've been trying to figure it out for 3 months.  I'll just try again and do a better job.  I thank you.

I always think it's best to plant bare roots roses in a pot, after soaking to rehydrate the roots.  They need to be planted with the graft join below the surface of the soil or compost and then kept fed and watered for a season while they develop a strong new root system before they go out into busy borders and compete with other plants for moisture and nutrients.

Hi - if you have other roses growing then you may not have done anything wrong! It might just have been a bad specimen. I would take photos and ask for a refund or replacement from Jackson Perkins ( I think US based?).

This one might have been kept in unsuitable conditions before you bought it. I agree with pianoplayer. Take it back and get a refund.
