Saving purple sprouting broccoli seeds

Was hoping to save some this year but have had to pull up the plant to make room for others - the pods were still green. Am I wasting my time drying them hung up in the shed? Thanks

Did you cover the flowers to prevent cross pollination? If not then you're probably wasting your time trying to salvage the seeds - all the brassicas cross very readily. If you did or if there are no other flowering brassicas anywhere near then it may be worth a try - it depends whether the pods were on long enough for the seeds to form. Can't really guess on that

  • Thanks, nothing else flowering at the same time that I remember. I’ll give it a go!
