What's this and why are the leaves yellow and falling off?

I can't remember what this is called, but it has glossy green leaves and loads of little pink flowers which the bees love.  Every year some leaves go yellow and fall off, but this year there are more yellow leaves than ever.  Is it something this shrub does naturally or is it under stress for some reason?  Early Spring was cold and we've had loads of rain throughout June.  The flowers are just coming into bud. Any suggestions gratefully received.

In between the cold Spring and the rain many parts of the UK suffered from a lack of rain and high temps.
All plants naturally drop leaves which are then renewed when the weather "picks up".
If your shrub is basically healthy, put it down to nature.
If it continues to decline, then is the time to look at other possible causes :)

    It looks like Escallonia.

Thanks.  I knew the name began with an 'E', but couldn't think of it.  Now I have found out what it's called I found a short video on Gardeners World regarding leave drop on Escallonia, which has been very helpful.  Now I suspect the reason for leaf dropping I can, hopefully, remedy it over the coming months and the shrub will return to good health.
