Are David Austin Gardens worth a visit?

I'm going to be visiting a town about 15 miles away from the DA gardens in Shropshire, and wondered if anyone who's been there thinks they are worth making an effort to go and see?  Am keen to look at roses for a hedge I'm planting, but it will take up at least a morning of our break, so wondered if it was worth it? Are the displays extensive, or a little underwhelming?

Yes. We spent several hours there.  The display gardens are quite extensive.

It is a beautiful garden to visit. It’s quite a formal layout, several smaller gardens linked together. There is a map of the layout of each garden available and all the roses in the planting scheme are marked on the map, so as you are walking around and see a rose you fancy there is a little box you can tick. The roses are planted amongst beautiful perennials. The rose sales area is quite large and the roses are arranged by colour. They also sell companion plants to go with the roses along with various supports to grow them up/on. Tea room was very pleasant. Gift shop has some lovely things to buy but a bit pricey. I went before covid and there were plenty of staff around the sales area to give advice, I’m not sure if that will be the case at the moment. You need to pre book due to covid restrictions. I would highly recommend and plan to go back this year.

Went yesterday and as usual a lovely afternoon. As others have said it’s a beautiful place and the food is delicious. The scent of the roses was overwhelming and it’s very peaceful. Booking is very easy. I would definitely recommend it

We went 2 weeks ago, it's delightful! Had fabulous lunch outside in the sunshine, such a treat after the last 18 months, like being on holiday. Bought a beautiful Desdemona (OH called Des!) scent is divine

As folks know I really dislike Roses, BUT David Austin's Rose gardens were definitely worth a visit. (Even for me!)

A while since I went too, but the gardens were beautiful. We went in June which I think must be the best month to visit.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

How do they stop their roses flopping, because almost every DA rose I've bought has had a tendency to flop, mainly because of weak stems.
