Who's destroying my plants?

Hi all, I keep waking up to strawberries being eaten, flowers being chopped off plants and spread all over my balcony, soil covering the floor etc. This morning I found a wonderfully blooming plant without a single flower left! What could this be, and what can I do to stop it? Grateful for any ideas!

I'm guessing birds, particularly with the fruit disappearing.

    Any squirrels living nearby?
  • Hi Ergates, thanks, I haven't seen any squirrels on the balcony yet..
  • caterpillars. . . . if you have lots of butterflies and/or moths then you probably have caterpillars too

Magpies are very destructive, they do the same to my pots on a regular basis. they dig bulbs out every winter and leave then strewn about the patio. The leaf damage could be slugs/snails/caterpillars and smaller birds may have taken the fruit. By the looks of the flowers damage, it's Magpies !!!!
  • Oh no Shazza 3, that sounds awful. I also think it’s birds, given the amount of damage. I put some bamboo sticks in some of the pots and will have to get nets for the strawberries and chilly plant.
We’ve also had a big caterpillar in the rose bush, accepting it might cause some damage, but the birds must have taken it!
    Thanks all!
  • Black birds ? They make a right mess of my pot plants and fling gravel/stones aside looking for bugs.
