Are these ash roots?

Hi all. Just dug these out from between my slaps at my new house. Out if interest, Would I be right thinking they are ash?

Very possibly the roots of ash saplings. Is there a mature ash tree anywhere nearby?

Oh yes! We moved in on weds, house was empty for a year and the slabs are covered with little helicopters! These were growing between them where the motar had gone.

Grrr!  Keep your eyes peeled for the little  rascals every spring so they don’t get too big before you can remove them.
We had two large ashes here when we moved in. We’ve since removed the female as the gardens not big enough for two large trees, but we still find seedlings appearing from time to time 🌱 🌱 🌱
