Mushroom identification and removal

Hi guys, I have noticed patches of mushrooms in my lawn, I have a toddler at home and firstly need to know if they are safe should he find and eat one? And how to stop em growing if they aren't safe?
Thanks.

There is no easy way to stop them growing, you would need to remove an awful lot of soil to eradicate it. The mushrooms you see are just the fruiting bodies of a widespread mycelium under the surface which is probably feeding on old tree roots. They will be gone in a few days.
They are probably harmless but you could just sweep them away if there is any danger of your toddler trying to eat one. Identifying them accurately would require a visit from a mycologist but a few close-up photos of the complete mushroom showing the entire stem, gills and cap would help narrow it down.
  • Thanks for replying, didn't realise they were that hard to remove, I don't really mind em, as long as they can't hard the kids.

Some more photos if it helps anyone identify em.
