Poorly monkey puzzle tree

Hi all,

I bought a monkey puzzle tree and it's currently in a pot. It has some damage to the trunk and I'm not sure what it is and therefore how to prevent it. Any ideas? Looks either like rot to me, or something is trying to eat it! Thanks all

Unfortunately I think that looks terminal. You could try planting in the ground to give it a chance though, it isn't going to survive in a pot.

Oh no! I'll definitely put it in the ground and hope it recovers. Any idea what it could be?? Thanks for your reply
