Sunflowers

Hi. I am inlove with sunflowers and have 1 little plant but i see some little nodes growing on lots of the leaf intersections. What are they?

    We had similar on ours,  I thought they might be additional flowers so I removed them to see if it made the main one larger. I'm not 100% sure though.

    Could be a multi headed variety, thanks to the blue tits I have quite a selection this year and loads are turning out to be multi headed… first one is almost open, can’t wait to see what I get!
    Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
