How to protect new climbing roses

I'm about to buy new potted plants and plan to use fish, blood and bone fertiliser. Last time I used it foxes got in and devoured all my plants. I plan to patch  up the hole in the fence with chicken wire, but if the foxes still manage to get in, what can I use to protect the plants? I've looked at scat mats but they don't look like they would allow enough room for the plant to grow.

Cheers. 😁🌹

Best to just use another type of fertilizer or soil improver.. another thread had a lot of suggestions, but I can't search the forum due to some stupid ad that keeps covering the search bar without an option to X out.

Hopefully you can find it.. or some kind soul can put up a link.

Use a coated pelleted time release fertiliser instead.

They're after the bfb, not the roses.

I don't think the foxes are eating the roses, just breaking them. It's better to ditch the BFB
