Brown patches on compact lilac.

Hi. I have a small, compact lilac shrub in a decent sized pot. Just lately it has developed light brown patches on some leaves (as photo shows), almost blister like.
Looking for answers as to what it is, the cause and possible cure.
Thank you
Ian

Looks a bit like leaf miner?  Possibly.  Squish where the black part is near the still a bit green brown area.  That will kill the grub in the leaf, without damaging the rest of the plant.

It could possibly be lilac leaf moth ?

  • Thanks guys. It is almost certainly leaf miner or leaf moth larvae. As per the link above, I’ve managed to remove most, if not all the affected leaves. Despite the link suggesting there’s no insecticide for this, I have sprayed it with a systemic spray. It may keep the little blighters at bay.
Despite its haircut, the lilac still looks tidy with lots of new buds.
    Thanks again.
