  • It’s the ,slow to bolt’ Hanakan that’s bolted. I’ve tested 4 varieties so far 2 are doing well.


  • I lost my first sowing to bolting. Have recently sowed another batch. better luck this time.
  • Agree that bolting will happen.
    We sow ours in the polytunnel and again this year we had a great harvest with the bulk being very compact. Bolting only happened with us when the plants were getting very big.
    Sowed some more recently and they are slowly establishing themselves.
    Can't grow them outdoors even under netting.

    Why can’t you grow them outside? 
  • @Igrowfromseed because they bolt straight away.
    We have always had issues with caulis,broccoli etc for the same reason.
    Some one told us that the problem was lack of boron in our soil.
    No idea if this is true but we can't grow them outdoors.
