Ginkgo biloba troll - heatwave stress or disease?

Hello! We are currently going into day 4 of a severe heatwave. My young ginkgo planted in the south facing garden was okay before this increase of abnormal hot temperatures. Now it seems to be struggling with some leaves developing brown spots. Once I noticed that it was stressed, I setup a sheet to protect it from the hot direct sun during this heatwave and removed the more damaged leaves. There are some other leaves developing smaller brown spots.

Is it stressed or diseased? Is there anything I can do to save it or is this a lost cause?

We are located on the west coast of Canada in British Columbia Climate Zone 9a. Thank you.

    Hello Mandy  :)
You have my sympathy dealing with those temperatures.
I have done a bit of searching and came across this

It's quite difficult finding information on Ginko problems as they seem to be pretty tough, but l hope this might help.
I should imagine that being a young plant and having to cope with the extreme temperature, it's probably needing a fair amount of water.

Water it thoroughly.   Being young, it will not yet have got its root system established well enough to seek our moisture and nutrients in deeper soil so it's probably frying.

Give it 10 to 15 litres at a time, poured slowly round the roots so it soaks in and doesn't run off.   repeat at least every 2 days for the duration of the heatwave and until you get some decent rain.

I have a small one I planted out in the ground two autumns ago and I had to keep it watered all thru an early heatwave (40+C) and drought last April and May and again later last summer.   It's fine now.
