What is it?

This just appears in my garden. I don’t know what it’s coming from or what it is or how to stop/get rid of it? Can anyone help me with this?

This may be either termites or the result of fungi that decomposes the mulch.
  • Do I need to be concerned for myself/plants?

    Not personally.

Termites are naturally drawn to damp and moist habitats because they need water to survive. If it is termites, you may need to apply some repellents and investigate if they have entered your property, you may need to contact a professional extermination service.

If it is a fungus instead, I just let the fungi do their thing and ignore the mold/fungus... although if you want, you can also discard it by throwing it in the trash.

It looks like a slime mould to me.  Nothing to be concerned about and will disappear in a few days: https://laidbackgardener.blog/2020/07/11/dog-vomit-slime-mold-a-surprising-garden-visitor/

  • I live in Flint Michigan. My beds are new. This is their second year. Roses and peonies.
  • Thank you all so much. This makes me feel so much better. I can live with it.

    😊
I asked because this is a UK based site (with the benefit of a few overseas friends 🤗) and we don’t have termites in the UK so I have no idea whether or not your photos indicate the presence of termites.

I must say that it looks like a Slime Mould to me too, as @BobTheGardener suggests.
