What’s wrong with my plant

I was given this as a gift and the leaves are not looking healthy, what is the cause of this and what can I do to fix it?

It looks as if something happened to damage the old leaves, maybe it got too cold. The new leaves look happy and healthy, so just cut off the damaged ones and follow the care directions for the rest :)
  • Okay thankyou, do I cut the leaves at the bottom of the stems or the top?

Cut them back as far as you can, preferably removing all of the stem of each leaf removed.  Leaf stems won't produce new leaves and if you leave them, they'll slowly die back, potentially causing more issues if rot sets in.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Amazing thankyou!

More house plants are killed by over watering than any other reason.
