Parker Dutch Bulbs -Terrible

Bought 36 shrubs from Parkers earlier this season. They replaced several, but overall I'd say that the quality was very poor. Some of the plants were dead on arrival, others were just too small to plant out, a couple were diseased. I've managed to resuce most of them, but had big problems with 10 of them. 5 have died. Some are still not growing well.

Parkers are usually best for bare root plants but there have been some issues experienced by forum members previously.
Probably a stupid question but have you contacted them to discuss your complaints ?

Where they on an offer?  They need extra TLC but usually come good at the end.

Stopped using Parkers years ago for precisely that reason, plants were generally of a poor quality, especially shrubs. Flower colours also not well-represented in their catalogues. Waste of time and not worth the hassle, getting decent plants shouldn't be a lottery!
  • I know people occasionally have to but I wouldn't buy plants mail order unless I had no other choice...which is rare.
  • I disagree @Chris-P-Bacon a lots of specialist nurseries are fantastic at online sales. Unfortunately it's the general/volume sellers like Parker that give the field a bad name. It's particularly useful as not all of us live near the nursery that grows the plant we want to buy.
