Green pond water

Anyone got any ideas how to stop the water in my neighbour's pond going green? Tried barley straw and Envii Pond Klear without success. No fish in pond and filter is on 24hrs.

Several bunches of oxygenating plants will help.
They'll grow and use up the nutrients that the algae are thriving on.
It takes time, but it does work
Topping up with rainwater will also help keep it at bay.
Tap water often contains minerals that the algae live on.
I use blagdon barley straw extract in my pond which also helps

  • Why are they filtering the water if they don't want to keep fish? Just don't filter it and add a bucket of water from an established pond. This will contain lots of zoo plankton that will eat algae and help make the water less green. Also more established plant growth on the pond edge will make less contrast between the grey stone and the green water and any plant roots in the water will lower the nutrient levels in the water that boost the algae that give  it a green colour.
