Plant ID and pruning advice please?

Hi I’ve only once managed to prune this vigorous shrub at the right time so it flowers properly with flowers fully on display without new foliage overtaking it and hiding them. Unfortunately i can’t remember when I did it! Is it a styrax Hemsley or a hydrangea ?? It’s pretty big 3m high. The pic was taken on the good year. 0
