Looks like it's going to be a good year! Some pairings I'm quite excited about and I think we can already spot who will be going out early... Shall we open a book?
As the celebs were introduced Possum and I sat there going Who? for 10 of them.
There's one I really don't want to get to know and I hope will go soon but I fear will get voted back for a few weeks. Looking forward to seeing how they all progress.

I was quite pleased with the contestants as I had thought that this years crop looked uninteresting but apart from Emma Thompsons husband they looked as if they could be fun which is a pity really as I adore Karen Hauer. The way they introduced the pairings was a step up from the way it is usually done, particularly liked Nina Wadia's comment "oh! I didn't want you" to Neil Jones who I didn't recognise with his new haircut. I hope they get an audience soon as it adds to the atmosphere.
I thought some of them were a bit OTT but l put it down to nerves. I think once they're training up to 12 hours a day they will calm down a bit. Looking forward to seeing how the deaf lady (Rosie ?) gets on, l thought she came across well and l will be interested to see how Giovanni copes with a different way of training. Roll on next Saturday
Just glanced through the lineup for this year, and only recognised three names. Is it just me? I shan’t bother to watch, as I can’t stand the bits other than watching the actual dancing. When Bill Bailey won, I did find all his routines on YouTube and watched his performances. I do have a soft spot for him, and it meant I could enjoy the dancing without all the over the top stuff from the judges. Id love a programme just about dancing, maybe with a join in at home option, although I’d have to move the furniture round a bit!
Difficult at home @Ergates. I reckon you need a minimum 7 x 10m space to do the ballroom steps and figures. You maight be better joining a club and learning with them.
We only recognised 5 slebs but don't care. What we like is the training and progress and the performance and the judges comments are sometimes constructive and useful.

It did rather look to us as if Greg W had presumed, because he’s tall and slim and urbane and educated and talented and successful that it was all going to ‘come naturally’ to him …. after all he’s been able to manoeuvre Emma T backwards around the After-BAFTA-Party dance floor for years hasn’t he?
What he appeared not to have taken into consideration was you actually have to knuckle down and learn the steps! 🙄

Brilliant first show looks like there's some really promising talent there, Judi Love and Dan walker can move their bodies although Judi's stamina might just let her down, this is looking like shaping up to be a good series.
Loved it. I think they got a bit over-excited and the later scoring was a bit unfair on the earlier dancers, but nothing that can't be remedied next week. I was dreading seeing Dan and Greg dad-dancing, but they were both better than I feared (Greg does need to get over himself though. Emma Thompson and their daughter were hilarious). Nina was a revelation... and I'll stop there because otherwise I'll go on and on about all of them 😂
