Strawberry Plants taken over by ants

I am seeing two things on my strawberry plants -
1. Lots and lots of ants which look black in colour.
2. the leaves get holes as shown in the photo below.

this is the first time I am trying to grow strawberries. What am I doing wrong ? Or what should I be doing to help the plants.

I can’t see any slugs visibly and also I am watering the plants at least once a day and on hot days twice.

Do you have any brown beetles around? that damage looks like beetle damage rather than slug. The ants won't bother the strawberries unless they dig out all the soil under them, keeping the soil wet should stop them doing that.

Aphids possibly?? I've noticed a couple of white fuzzy caterpillar type things on mine the other day, look underneath the leaves
