Bulrush removal

I have a bulrush growing next to my plum tree in a large pot, how do i get rid of the bulrush with out harming my victoria plum?

    It seems an odd thing to appear in beside a plum  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I've had the tree for 5 years. Last year i was in hospital al lot so didn't get a chance to do much with the trees. The only place i can think of around here that has bulrushes id the Kenfig Nature reserve - about 5 miles away
    . Help I've tried three ways of inserting a photo, but no success so far

    Sometimes reducing the size of the photo works. 
    Then click on the landscape icon and follow the instructions. 😊

    Not bullrushes, but one of the common rushes which all need removing, along with all the other weeds.
    Soak the soil in the pot thoroughly, and you should be able to tease those all out. Easier when the soil is damp. Don't let those rushes seed - if you can't get them out first time, taking the heads off will at least stop them seeding everywhere  :)
