Gardening project - help, where can I order fruit or veg with home delivery?

Hi,
I have a social enterprise that is currently doing a project to help unpaid carers doing more gardening.
We have sent packages with all the items to start and we have included some fruit and vegetable plants, having ordered everything in May and delivered in the beginning of June for the 80 carers.
But out of the blue came a few more really keen on doing some gardening, but our suppliers no longer have the items.
It can be strawberries, raspberries, or lettuce, tomatoes, salad leaves, brassicas.. it doesn't matter, as-long as it is small, and can be delivered.
May we have your advice, please, a place that can sell this, but not expensive prices, and can send asap?
Much appreciated!

Sounds like you have got yourself into a lot of hard work there.🙂

You don’t say where in the world you live, but here in Britain it is just too late in the year to be delivering fruit and veg.

The home delivery idea also throws up the prospect of the cost of delivery being more than the cost of the plants.

If that is no barrier, you could perhaps have a large bag of compost and some seeds delivered? Again, finding a company to do it would depend on where you live. B&Q have herb seeds just now but not a lot else, and small bags of compost.
Hi, apologies, we are in Durham, and yes, it is hard work, but as I said, we did this in the end of May, beginning of June, and yes, our packages for 80 unpaid carers had compost, seeds, hand tools, gloves, labels, loads of seed trays, loads of pots, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers and blueberries.
But a few just contacted us, and we cannot say no to unpaid carers, life does that quite nicely.
We can have produce and fruit until October and some will even extend, depend on the area of the country and depend on the type of fruit, there are some organisations that sell them still, and they are organic, but as you say, it is too expensive. I called my local garden centres but they are small and ended yesterday with the sales. So, maybe I will have to go through Monty Don's advice what we can sow this time of the year and send them a bucket load of seeds along with the equipment.

Seeds are going to be best now. Salads and oriental greens are easy to grow and will do well sown now and until late August. Some small carrots ('nantes' types) will also crop before winter and are good if your clients are growing things in pots.
Try talking to these people Buy quality Vegetable Seeds - The Real Seed Catalogue UK. (realseeds.co.uk) and tell them what you are doing - they may have some suggestions.

Radish seed should be fine. Winter spinach and chard.
You could try going to a local garden centre and ask them if they could donate plants. Our local independant GC sponsors many local schools by giving plants, pots, compost etc. You might find someone sympathetic.
Maybe a local allotment trust can help too.
Good luck with it. It sounds like a great project.
