Bay leaf curl

B3B3 Posts: 27,505
I've successfully grown bay trees in the ground for decades but I'm realising that growing in containers is different and they are more prone to pests if neglected , which I have done but I've been guilted into cherishing a neglected one.
I've extracted it from a too small pot, put it in a suitably sized container and moved it to a suitable aspect and dealt with black spot. ( ok I'd tortured it.😞)
It's budding on all stems but some emergent leaves are curled. I can't see anything inside the curls. Have the bugs been and gone? Should I pick off the leaves? Can I ignore it?
I get the odd curled leaf on the ground ones which I pick off or if they get fluffy, I hose them off but  container growing seems more intense.
Be gentle with me. This is embarrassing😳
In London. Keen but lazy.

  • I pick all curled ones off and it seems to stop the progress. Did have a few on both of my potted ones last week and after picking the affected ones, all looks fine this week. Be brutal 😛

I do the same. Every year. Goodbye curled leaves.

Mine is doing alright for it.
