What is taking over my grass!

Can anyone ID what is taking over my grass and how I can sort it out!?

    I think it could be pink campion. Do you have any around that’s self seeded?

    Could be Prunella vulgaris (Self Heal)
    I have it in my lawn and has a lovely purple flower.

    It did start to get buds on it, but I don’t have anything that would self seed like that.

    its like a carpet when you get underneath it!

    Prunella would be getting buds about now and it can form a carpet.
    Maybe you could leave it to flower and see what it is.
    Just another thought does it smell of anything when crushed?

    Scarlet pimpernel makes a mat like that in my lawn.  So does speedwell, but I think the leaf edges are too smooth to be that.

    I love wild flowers in my lawn so I'm afraid I have no suggestions for getting rid of them...   :)
