She got as far as 'He's full of.." before Boffle jumped in. I assumed he was afraid she was about to say "..full of s**t" but perhaps you're right and she knew what was about to come to light

MIL got her first tattoo just before Covid shut the tattoo parlours down. I'm not sure why she felt the urge given she's in her mid sixties and didn't really know what she wanted but it's her choice I suppose. I have a tattoo on my thumb which is very special to me. It marks the time just after my oldest son was born and I was so tired that I missed the lid when I was putting my pen away and stabbed the tip so deeply into my skin that the ink is still visible almost four years later.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I have a similar one on the side of my right hand ring finger @wild edges ... I had a paper cut on my finger and then it filled with charcoal during a life-drawing class many many many years ago ... I still have a black stripe

Art is art though isn't it? And we all see 'art' differently - and I like 'stuff' like deals/explores with light/dark - some of Caravaggio's work amazes me. But would I want to be a walking canvas for Caravaggio? No. Would I want to be a canvas for a 3 year old child - who seems to do 90% of the tattooing? Let me think...
What are tattoos supposed to say? That's the bit I miss. Are they simply a call for attention? Does the owner really think they're pieces of art - are they art to them? If they're reminders of some event, why feel the need to publicise the event to the world? Why do they think the world is interested? Chacun a son gout as they say in Bognor.
My dearest friend has lots of them. He posted his latest on FB and my comment was " Oh ! another skull? lovely" What's the fascination with skulls all about. Even he doesn't know.
