    I'd just use it for containers, baskets etc. You could mix it 50-50 with standard compost. If you have hard tap water, that will go some way towards neutralising it anyway.

    Re weed suppression @Fairygirl, yes I notice a big difference. Why that might be I don’t know for sure, but the veg beds don’t get it and the weeds there are a constant battle. Also I missed the annual mulch in 2020 on the ornamental beds due to covid unavailability and again, the weeds took hold. Maybe I have alkaline-loving weeds 😆

    Thanks for all your replies. I might try a small amount in the border and see what happens, whether it has any effect on the plants or not then decide from there. I'll let you know how it goes ☺️
