How to get rid of these white pests?

Hi all,

Sorry, I don't know the name of this plant. But I have recently moved to a new apartment and found this plant there not in good health. Could you please have a look at the pictures and suggest some ways of helping it?
Also, if you know the name of this plant, could you please share it?

Can’t really see them well but try googling Scale insects and see if you can identify them.

Thanks, they are scale insects indeed.

The cheapest method to get rid of them is to paint them with methylated spirit.
