Leylandii Hedge Die-Back

Hello all,
Literally just joined. We have just bought a new house and the neighbours leylandii hedge (I think leylandii) has been trimmed back too much on our side and has turned brown. See photo's. Just really looking for a solution to make this look better. I was thinking to cut it back further and install a fence, to hide it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, many thanks.

Afraid you're right in thinking that Leylandii is never going to look any better than it does now. I think I'd go with the fence solution ... but I'd explain to the neighbours what you're going to do and how carefully you're going to do it. Don't want them blaming you for any die off on their side ... good neighbourly relationships are worth their weight in gold

Absolutely, we have not moved in yet and will introduce ourselves when the time comes. I certainly would not like to start off on the wrong footing, but I really do need to do something to beatify this hedge. I mean the top of the hedge looks fine, just a slight trim to make it neat I'm thinking.
