Tell us more about how it's growing, where it's planted, what in ... what's the feeding regime?

It is growing in poorish soil next to another hydrangea which seems to be ok. I am feeding it with all purpose miracle grow fertiliser every few weeks. It has a white flower.

Do I need to get more compost into the soil? It is quite light soil.

You need to add more organic matter - lots of it. Well rotted manure is more beneficial than just compost, as it helps retain moisture on poorer soils, but anything will help.  :) If it's next to another hydrangea, that one is probably taking up most of the moisture and available nutrients.
Constantly feeding with a synthetic food isn't helpful either if a plant is struggling. That's ok now and again if the plant is generally healthy, although hydrangeas really don't need lots of extra food if they're in good soil conditions with plenty of moisture :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
