Amelanchier

I posted last year about my Amelanchier leaves getting brown spots in early summer, leading to premature leaf drop in early autumn, plus it looks sickly all summer.
The advice was to water well. I've watered (via a bottle, so down to the roots) all spring and continue to water, but I'm still getting brown spots that gradually affect the whole leaf.

The bottom and middle of the tree seem most affected. Plus I have an Amelanchier as a shrub not far away from the tree and that seems to be unaffected.

I've also previously sprayed with an anti-fungal to no avail.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

  • It looks a bit like rust which you get on rose leaves. I don't know of any cure for it though.

Amelanchier suffer from quince rust.  Are the fruit affected?  Rust in the fruit is very distinctive.
