Mountain ash sapling.

Newly planted mountain ash sapling as developed small areas of bark damage on trunk and lower branches at bifurcation, looks like scratches. Any advise please

    A stake and netting may help prevent further damage. 
    Probably best to post a pic and see if anyone can advise you further.

    Do you have deer or rabbits around? Without protection, they'll strip bark - especially deer.
    Photo needed though, as @philippasmith2 says  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Discovered the culprit. Need barrier netting now. Thanks for advice
