Hawthron disease or pest?

Hi there, just noticed one of our hawthorns has red spots and bristly growths. Can anyone help identify the problem please? Any advice on how to manage it also gratefully received. Thanks.

    Thank you! Great to know what it is - now I just need to find out what to do about it before it infects all the other hawthorns. Any organic management advice once again would be gratefully received.

    I'm pretty sure our neighbour does have a juniper tucked away in the undergrowth at the back of their garden. As with your pear tree, we'll hope that it doesn't cause too much damage and just live with it. Thanks again for your help.
