Lemon Tree

Hi,

I've had a lemon tree for 7 years now - it's in a a pot.  I brought it back from the dead 4 years ago and now have plenty of growth - nearly got a few lemons last years and hoping for a result this year.

I have 2 main areas of leafy growth.  One set of new leaves are a browny red and one are a green colour.  The green leaves are on a new branches that grow from the main stem and are slightly misshapen.

My question is shall I cut off these new branches as they will not produce flowers or shall I keep them.  I have attached pictures showing both sets of new growth.

Any advice would be most welcomed!

Cheers

It doesn't look too bad to me,we have half a dozen, lemons, mandarin, calamondins (and a grapefruit Hubby grew from a pip over 25 years ago) he cuts off just dead branches early spring, all our new leaves are red. Are you watering and feeding regularly,?

If it's been in the same pot for 4 years it might need repotting.  If you don't want to go up a size, just take off existing,  and replace with fresh.  Monty Don demonstrated this in a recent edition of GW.

Hi Nanny Beach do you mind telling me how long it was before you got fruit.  I am growing a lemon from a pip.
