Red Maple

Hi, I have a well established (20 yrs) Red Maple in my front garden.
I have noticed over the past few weeks there are a lot of leaves looking poorly. Almost as if scalded on the edges. See pictures.
Can anyone advise please.
Many thanks
Jeff

Obviously I don't know where you live, but they are Japanese woodland plants, prefer some shade, from the hottest part of the day they also suffer from "windburn", for this reason I tend to keep most of mine in pots,we had them in the ground in our last garden, west facing, but shaded by the other houses. I do have a very deep maroon colour one in the ground.course,we had late Frost, high winds and now baking sun

Just weather damage. Often a combination, and more common after very dry periods, with sun/wind. The outer edges struggle to get enough moisture.
It won't cause any long term damage though, so don't worry. The problem with the dark ones is that they actually like a bit of sun to get the best colour, but any damage is also more noticeable.   :)

    Thanks for the info.
    I live in Deepest Kent.
I have just walked past the tree and noticed (For the first time) there are a few flower type shoots. Not seen before. Do they flower at all?

    Thanks Fairygirl,
Big sigh of relief as tree is around 15 foot tall so would cost a fortune to replace.

Yes, they do flower - although most people don't realise it.
Not really grown for the flowers though - can't compete with the colouring in autumn  ;)
