Help to identify plant please

It is on one tall main stalk which then splits into the thin stalks with a flower head each. And recently the dark purple items have sprouted out and as they are bulb shaped I am assuming they are bulbs for it to create new plants. 
But I have no idea what the actual plant is. Grateful if anyone can help to identify it.

    It's an allium of some kind ... not sure what sort ... someone will be along and recognise it soon ...

    It looks like a type of allium. Many alliums and some lilies will produce small bulbils in the flower head. These can be grown on and will be identical to the parent. The seeds will not necessarily be identical to the parent,it depends on where the bees have been.

    Looks similar to Allium tripedale .

    Allium roseum is similar too. The ones in my garden are more reddish where these ones are purple but I can't remember if the colour changes as they mature.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
