Rose identification please

DevonianDevonian Posts: 176
I'd really appreciate if anyone can identify this climbing/rambling rose for me - mainly so that I can research how to care for it. As you can see, it sprawls along a fence and was trained at some point in its history but has been swamped by ivy encroaching from next door (I moved in reasonably recently so trying to work out how to tackle the ivy invasion!)

..what a pretty rose, I'd like to know too..  if no one else chimes in I'll get back later.. I'm a bit busy right now..   too good a rose to be covered in ivy, for sure..

.. does it have a good scent?  many thorns?..

Thanks! No problem, not a rush I'd just like to know so that I can administer the right care for it! Definitely a fun project to revive it, although it seems to be flowering nicely. It spreads for about 6m along my east-south-east facing fence, so there's a considerable bulk of it that flowers on next-door's side too!

I need to gear myself up for a concerted attack on the ivy, which will take me a while I think!

You can see in the second photo an example of the fairly thick 'branches' that have been trained along the fence in years gone by...

Yes there's a lovely soft fragrance to it - sorry I'm not much of an expert so to me it's just a typical rose scent, relatively light. And not many thorns either

..oh ok.. now we have it... that's the popular 'Paul's Himalayan Musk'  a rambler of some proportions as you notice..

.. it flowers only once so does not repeat, therefore you can cut that rose hard back as much as you like right after it has flowered, sort of mid July time.. but all new growth it produces from the base should be kept as it will flower on this growth next summer..

Here is a photo of one of the branches of mine. Exactly the same. @Marlorena is always correct 👍

And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)
