Rose cutting and general prunning

hi has anyone use aloe Vera to grow rose cutting successfully. i never mange to grow any roses through cutting.

and also as my Hebe and Japonica have now stopped flowering can i prune it hard or shall i wait until spring.

    I took a bunch of cuttings for the first time this autumn and quite a few have been successful

    I didn't do anything clever, just dipped the ends in rooting powder and popped them into holes I'd made with another piece (so that you don't loose all of the powder when you push them in to make a hole)

    A third took successful and 2 have roses on already
