Do you know what this bug is?

I thought it was a type of caterpillar but it doesn't look long enough, do you recognise it? I would say its about a third of an inch in size.


Must stop buying more plants, repeat, must stop buying....

    Everyone knows and loves ladybirds and I so wish more people recognised their larvae as they are much better at eating aphids.  And, note to self, learn to recognise ladybird eggs too.  I scraped some off a lily plant thinking they were lily beetle eggs but on looking them up saw that they are quite different.

    Here's the lesson. Do exactly what @Alisonjayne did - post a photo instead of reaching for a spray. Absolutely the right thing to do   :)

    It's sad when we see people posting [and it happens a lot] who have automatically assumed that every insect they see is 'bad' and spray first instead of checking to see what it is. There are thousands of beneficial insects - all of which are harmed just the same as the 'pests'. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
