Hi Is it possible to take a cutting from honeysuckle. If so how and when is the best time. Thanks

I find if I pull up some of the honeysuckle shoots that have sprawled along the ground I can find some that already have roots. Some of mine sprawl along concrete path and start rooting in moss that is growing there. If you separate off a piece with both roots and leaf already it starts growing to a proper new plant faster so I have not tried other types of cutting. I think it is called layering and it works with a number of plants. You could even leave the section with roots pegged in a pot for a while to allow the roots get more developed if you want to give it an even better chance of success. I think anytime the shoots are actively growing should work so the warmer part of the year is probably best for this but obviously letting the plant dry out should be avoided.
    Happy gardening!
  • Thanks for that. I wanted to take the cutting from my friend's garden. I'll try it out.
