It isn’t that garden makeover programs make me angry, I love them, but your garden made perfect is particularly rubbish
It really is. They mention one plant per episode and I clap!

I watch hoping to see a good outcome but sadly, no, the gardens often look better before the assault!  The main problem is that the designers are designing for non gardeners who want outside rooms to entertain in, with few plants and lots of lights. That's fine, if you don't live next door! (An outdoor cinema in the last series?!!)

As already said, it does help you decide what you don't want.  It also helps you to appreciate what you already have!
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

  • If you want to put down lots of slabs in your front garden you need planning due to flooding issues, perhaps this should apply to back gardens too. I wonder what happens when it rains heavily in last nights episode. Get rid of the grass keep plants to a minimum, then put everything you own outside other than the kitchen sink. Oh I forgot one garden did have a kitchen sink! One positive the planting that was there took into consideration room for growth, however some plants were so small I wondered if they had asked the neighbours for cuttings.

Re: I try to sit in my garden often, not for long as I notice something wants doing.

The moment for a new poll: how long can you sit down in the garden:
    >5 minutes
    <5 minutes

    I my garden.

  • Love your quote @Simone_in_Wiltshire my daughter is also bilingual like you. My written English isn't the best .I just press buttons and write what is in my head. Guess you could start a new thread with sitting in the garden it is certainly something I would be interested in to see what others have to say.

I never sit in my garden. Unless I have guests.

    I like Siloe. Worth following.

Everything won't fit, but there maybe a few useful ideas here re design and planning.

I’ve watch big dreams small spaces, only 5 episodes on amazon which is a bummer. I loved the norweigan garden! Aside from episode 5 there were much more realistic budgets, I liked that they were doing most of the work themselves and that it was over a year rather than everything done in a day, much more realistic! Particularly enjoyed that they were all afraid of monty 😆 what did you think @TheGreenMan?

I’ve literally just started the first episode but turned it off to watch Great British Menu.

    I’ll resume later.

I’ve caught up on the GW episodes I missed last year so I’m sure I’ll power through it tonight and tomorrow @zugenie
