Honeydew from aphids?

debs64debs64 Posts: 5,184
Hi all, this has probably been asked before though I couldn’t find specific advice but what can be done to remove honeydew from a standard rose. My daughter has a beautiful Desdemona rose that’s being ruined by aphids which are covering the leaves and stems with their sticky residue, what can she use to remove it safely without harming insects. It’s a standard rose in a half barrel covered with aphids and ants. Can anyone help?

Try washing the aphid and honeydew off with a hose jet.

Some of the aphids may harmlessly fall down and require that you hose them off again in a few days... when they "climb back on".
