What is this plant? (is it Knotweed?)

Hi there,

I have a hedge in my back garden but there's some kind of plant growing over it from next door. I'm unsure if it's knotweed or not but would be great if someone could identify for me.

Before I cut it, there was lots of purple shoots with leaves sticking out of the hedge

    I don't think it's Japanese knotweed , but l'm not 100% sure by any means. I think the leaves are more heart shaped. I can definitely see some ivy in there .
    Hopefully someone with more knowledge can confirm.

    I think you have hedge bindweed, as well as a lot of ivy. The ivy goes up by clinging to walls by aerial roots. The bindweed twines round things. Japanese knot weed does neither, it just grows straight up.
