It's an Ash tree sapling and needs to come out while you can still easily remove it.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Or maybe a walnut?…
Either way it needs to come out.

Be warned.........I have a huge Ash tree which can only be pruned to a certain extent as it is in a Conservation Area.  Beautiful tree but the constant removal of seedlings throughout the garden can be a nightmare.

We have this too - ash seedlings everywhere. Most people don't know what's growing in their garden and that it will turn into a sapling that is so hard to get rid of, oce it gets its roots down. Local council housing particularly have this problem; Many houses and flats locally have a tree 10 ft from their door that will get taller than the house.
