I’ve grown these Alliums this year for the first time, not sure of the name. They are low growing about 6 to 8 inches high. But they are bending and snapping under the weight of the flower heads. What could I plant which the alliums would grow through and would support the flower heads? Thanks
I think that's A. karataviense. I used to grow a white variety in a raised bed. Yours look quite tall compared to the size mine were, so they've maybe just grown a bit too lush due to the odd weather this year. Perhaps your soil is quite rich too. Mine were never fed and were in with shrubs, at the front edge of the bed, so they'd have been fairly malnourished! You could try some lower growing perennials around them for support, and see if it helps for next year. Even other bulbs like narcissus or tulips would give them a bit of help, and you could also add the little supports that @Lyn suggests as well. Those would be well enough hidden by foliage. I do that for some taller plants in borders.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
