Cucamelons and chilliest on allotment

I have some healthy chilli and cucamelons plants, raised from seed. Can I grow on on allotment or should I grow in greenhouse?

If you have the choice, then those two will do much better in a greenhouse.  If you plant them on the allotment then they may grow well at the moment, but if the weather doesn't comply with your wishes later in the year, they may not have time to ripen before the cold gets to them.

Depends where you live,I am in the warmest sunniest park of the UK and never grow chillies or any other peppers outside.

I'd agree - even in a good summer you will likely have problems ripening the fruit.
It is possible tho to get a decent harvest of green (unripe) peppers in sheltered sunny spot outside as I have discovered (SW UK ).
I freeze and then use in tomato sauces - so not wasted if your GH space is limited :)

We were given cucamelon seeds from our son.
We sowed them inside and they germinated really well.
We now have some growing in the garden room and others in the polytunnel.
    Latter aren't doing so well.
Fascinating though to watch the plants as their tendrils move to find contact.

Chilli's are periennal plants although we grow then as annuals. Providing they are in pots and can be moved to a sheltered spot when  cold weather arrives, you can keep them  on the plot.  You can take the plant home and treat it like a house plant over winter, green chillies will rippen at home but I found  the flowers dropped. You then have a really well established plant ready for next spring..

And they make nice house plants

I grow chillies inside and cucamelons outside. I've never had a problem getting the cucamelons ripe (I am in the SE though)
