Is it too late to plant dahlia tubers

I have some dahlia tubers I forgot to plant. Is it too late to put in ground now?

    I'd put them in pots or a container first and plant anything that sprouts.

    Yes, go for it,  years ago we never heard of bringing them on in pots early.  They went straight in the garden in June,  you will have to be careful of slugs though, as the plants show shoots, the slugs will eat.
    You should have nice blooms up to October/ November or until the 1st frost.

    I just thought it would be easier to protect them from slugs for a while in case they slice off the shoots @Lyn then you could tell which ones are viable

    That is true @B3. But at this late stage I think potting up and then moving on may set them back a bit,  it’s quite late in the  season,  but it can be done that way if the OP wants to try. 
    Anythings worth a try.  My garden ones are just shooting, thought I’d lost them over the freezing spell.
