Help

I have Flame of the Forest plant that has suddenly got a new “plant” growing up through it, actually through the branches. Is this a weed? And what do I do? Thanks

  • Looks like it is a honeysuckle which are nice climbers with good flowers in summer. A weed is a plant in the wrong place so if you don't want it there then it is a weed. I have some growing near a pieris forest flame and it does over shadow the forest flame a bit so I have trimmed it back at times but I like the flowers of the honeysuckle and planted it in the area deliberately so not going to kill the one doing something similar in my own garden.
  • You have Pieris (Forest Flame?) with a honeysuckle growing through it.
  • Presumably that's a Pieris...and it looks like a honeysuckle that has started growing with it. Up to you what you want to do. Presumably can take out the Pieris and transplant it? Can't imagine they could cohabit happily in a pot. But let's see what anyone else will have to say.

The Pieris  isn’t happy in the pot, it seems to have sooty mould.

  • It’s not in a pot 😬 it’s in a bed. How do I get rid of sooty mould? (Novice gardener 🙈)
