Silver disc shaped growth

Can anyone tell me what this is attached to a dead tree stump in my garden. Has the text of skin, worried it may be poisonous

Without a pic, it's difficult, but I'd guess it's just a fungus. Very common on a dead tree trunk, and usually nothing to worry about. They just break down the host plant.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Just a fungus ... the fruiting body of the rest of the  fungus which is inside the tree stump, breaking it down so that it rots away eventually.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Thanks for the replies, I’ve never seen a fungus this colour at first I though a piece of silver plastic had melted on to the tree. I’ll be keeping an eye on it to how it changes, really very interesting
